For many generations, the idea of financial freedom has been and became a dream to many employees and entrepreneurs around the world. Millions of websites online will provide you with the basic steps, actions, or habits in order to achieve this milestone. And yes, the definition of financial freedom will vary to some, but the basic stands in having enough income for a specific lifestyle. This lifestyle mostly will involve large savings accounts, large homes, and/or the ease to travel anywhere, anytime.

But here comes a twist. Something we have seen happen during 2022. Russia has had severe diplomatic sanctions over its invasion on Ukraine. These sanctions are affecting, not the political party, but the innocent civilians not involved in the war. The civilians that worked hard every day, so that one day, they could achieve the so called "financial freedom". Now, their savings accounts are meaningless.

It was also seen in Canada, where truckers manifested against the government, and in response, they had their accounts frozen.

Its being seen in so many countries around the world such as Venezuela, Sudan, Lebanon, Syria, Suriname, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Turkey, Iran, Ethiopia. All with inflation levels unbearable to the citizens who live paycheck to paycheck. But, who can be blamed for such inflation levels? Covid? Yes, or no. Either answer you pick does not justify that a centralized control of finance over a country only results in one conclusion. Your money, your hard earned money that you save, is NOT your money. Its wagered in banks and manipulated by the governments.

Now, if a government can have control over my savings, then what kind of freedom does this idea of financial freedom mean? These catastrophic couple of years have only demonstrated that financial freedom is something different. By today, people should begin to recreate this idea and reformulate it entirely. Financial freedom should mean "My money", that simple. Money that cannot be taken from you, money that will have value anywhere in the world, money that is not tied to any government or bank. This is the real financial freedom, being able to stand up against the politicians and them not being able to use our finances as a form of repression.
